Wouldn’t it be nice to burn stomach fat as quickly as you can put it on? Why is it so hard to get rid of that stomach fat, but easy to put it on? Unfortunately, the reality is that you need to be very disciplined to get ripped abs. After all, there’s a reason why its uncommon to see someone with a six pack. It is not easy and anyone telling you differently is flat out lying.
The truth, which is hard for most guys to realize, is burning stomach fat can be the hardest area to burn fat off. For many people, our body is genetically programmed to keep our main area of fat storage in our stomach region and our body will fight tooth and nail to keep it there.
It Will Only Get Harder Later On
If you want to do something about your stomach fat you need to start now for it to be most effective. Age plays an important role in the accumulation of stomach fat. As we age our body tends to store more unwanted body fat.
This is why it becomes a challenge later on in life to not only obtain visible ab muscles, but to keep them. If you’re getting up there in years don’t fret! Just because it is harder doesn’t mean it is impossible. Stick with your diet and exercise program. Push yourself and you too can achieve your desired results.
Are Your Genes Working Against You?
There are two main body types when it comes to storing fat.
They are better known as the ‘apple shape’ and the ‘pear shape’.
The apple shape is where your body predominately stores a majority of body fat in the stomach region, hips, and lower back.
The pear shape is when your body predominately stores most of the body fat in the thighs and buttocks region.
Gender and genetics determine what kind of body shape you have when storing fat. Males typically have the apple shape while females tend to have the pear shape. However, there are exceptions to that rule.
It is relatively easy to find out which shape you are if you have a lot of body fat, but it can be difficult to find out what shape you are if you have relatively little body fat. Both body shapes tend to have their difficulties.
For an apple shape, they tend to see results in the stomach area much faster than the people with pear shapes. However, they tend to have a lot more stomach fat than pear shapes and have to be more strict with their diet and exercise to keep visible six pack abs.
Pear shapes on the other hand have less body fat concentration on their stomach which means they will take longer to see results in their stomach area. They will however have it a little easier once they get visible abs to keep them because any additional body fat they may accumulate will start to go towards their thighs and butt first.
There’s More Than One Type of Stomach Fat You Need to Burn
There are two types of stomach fat you need to know about. The first is your standard subcutaneous fat which is the fat you feel between your abdominal wall and your skin. This is the fat layer that prevents you from seeing your abs. The second is called visceral fat and that is fat that isn’t directly visible to you and wraps around your vital organs; it is dangerous to have too much of.
Visceral fat tends to be much easier to get rid of than subcutaneous fat.
While working out, expect that visceral fat will come off over time as long as you stick with it. Your subcutaneous fat however, requires much more discipline in both dieting and exercise. The hardest part of getting rid of subcutaneous fat is the last few pounds. Most people hit a wall and feel they cannot move past it no matter what they do. Guys, if you hit this wall, this is where you need to give it everything you got to burn off the last few pounds of stomach fat.
